How He Popped the Question:

The Proposal had a lot of planning and preparation that went into it. It started in early September when I asked her father if I could marry her on our way back from a little fishing trip at Carolina Beach. After a discussion of our priorities and what I thought was the appropriate time for the wedding he agreed. Now that I had the okay, it was time to start devising the right way to do it. The ring was the easy part, I went shopping and found the perfect ring almost immediately, I knew it would leave her speechless. Finding the right time was more complicated. She expressed interest in going to Biltmore Estate while it was decorated for Christmas so for her birthday I bought open ended tickets and gave them to her. We decided to go on November 19th and stayed in Asheville for the weekend. The whole week before we left I was excited and nervous. That Saturday we left for the estate and as soon as we arrived I knew where I was going to ask her to be my wife. After visiting the house and gardens all day, hoping the ring would not fall out of my jacket pocket, we walked to the top of a hill overlooking the whole estate. Once we arrived at the top we stood under a gazebo and I prepared my self while she took a photo. I was shaking with anticipation and started talking about remembering this weekend forever. I told her I loved her, that she is my best friend, and I how I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with her. At that point I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. Her response was open the box, forgetting she had not said yes yet and I told her I needed an answer first, so she would say yes to me and not the ring. She jumped up and down, said yes, and her jaw dropped when I opened the box. I put the ring on her finger and pulled her into my arms to give her our first kiss as an engaged couple.
